Celebrating ten years of fun and friendship, our group held a Progressive Dinner on Saturday evening 20 March 2010. With an African theme for the evening, everyone arrived at Daphne Burnie’s flat in Pinewood Park, several of the members dressing appropriately for the occasion.
Anne Wilson was in full African dress, complete with turban. Lola Whittle had a baby tied to her back singing "tula tula", Daphne had ethnic white spots on her face (which had been put on with Tippex and took 3 days to remove), Rosemary Thorburn had a colourful African bead neckpiece and Imelda McQueen with a beautifully folded African turban.
The first course consisted of snacks, cheese and cocktails after which we left some of the cars outside the flats and moved on to Pam van der Linde’s home. En route we had been given a list of things to spot and had great fun searching for these – with a prize for the carload which spotted the most. Much hilarity as many missed vital clues and had to return to repeat that lap. Pam had decorated her house in keeping with our theme and served the main course - a delicious stuffed chicken dish with a selection of salads.

Anne Wilson, who had recently won through to the final four of an "Idols" type competition and sang before thousands of people on Clifton Beach, recounted the story and gave us a rendering of her song – to much applause from all of us.
We then moved on to Lola’s home for an array of the most scrumptious puddings served with paper serviettes depicting a typical African scene and Molly van der Merwe led us in a song she had specially composed to celebrate our 10 years.
Returning once again to Pinewood Park, we enjoyed coffee and chocolates in Astrid Gray’s flat and, with much laughter and sharing, finished what had been another very successful evening.
